Isolation No. 1
02:06
|
|||
In isolation you can play computer games all night long
In isolation you can write a song
You can paint a huge picture of a labrador
Or take a yoga class on your bedroom floor
You can catch up on that series that you left behind
In isolation look after your mind
In isolation you don't have to be alone and bored
In isolation you can talk to a friend abroad
There's so much stuff it's hard to know where to begin
The lack of hugs you receive is the hardest thing
Don't suffer all alone just call us if you need
In isolation you can do more than you think.

Supermarket diplomat
Why do people answer back?
The two metre rule is there for a reason
Panic buying groceries
Make the streets one way
Sanitizer? eBay
One pack of toilet roll per household
Exercise, it's good for you
Try a new recipe
Look into your family tree
Start writing that novel you've always dreamed of writing
Got to do something to get through the lockdown each day
Clapping for the doctors, the nurses and the carers
Crossing the road to avoid the lycra wearers
Sweating profusely
And breathing heavily
Try a new recipe
Look into your family tree
Start writing that novel you've always dreamed of writing
Got to do something to get through the lockdown each day

DIY dentistry
Self service hygienist
Cut away the calculous
Because it all adds up
Have a go hero
ignoring the experts
Not sure what you're thinking with
But it's not your brain
Don't plan nothing and hit the ground running
run into the wall because you didn't see if coming
and it all falls down and lands on top of you again
Ground hog day everyday
Comfort in routine
Nothing ever changes
Except for your clothes
Don't plan nothing and hit the ground running
run into the wall because you didn't see if coming
and it all falls down and lands on top of you again

Migraine
02:38
|

Here it comes again
I can feel it coming on
A nausiating strong migraine
I can't stand the pain
The noise of pots and pans
cuts like knives into my brain
And I'll lie down in a dark room
And hope it goes away
Pass the medication
To numb the senses to
The piercing sounds and burning view
And I'll lie down in a dark room
And hope it goes away
And I'll lie down in a dark room
And hope it goes away

2007 / 2020

Rewind to 2007
Working in a city pub
didn't have a lot of money
scraping by on three jobs
Danny was an alcoholic
Or so we used to think
Joey called himself a straight line walker
Never had a drop to drink
But he snorted up that cocaine
til his mind fell out his brain
We'd see them every lunch time
and after they'd finished they'd come and get ruined
and every single day they'd do the same again
Some people are more equal than others
That's become clear as day
Parallels drawn with economic collapse
but it happened in a different way
Dallying over lockdown
Lack of decisiveness
Can't put out a clear message
Shifting the blame on the public again
But there's no time for lessons learned after this!

Isolation's got to me
even though there's so much I can do
Pacing up and down the flat
like a tiger in a zoo
To the Great Tit singing "Charapee" every morning
Why don't you just give it a rest?
Exercise is limitless
But there's only so much I can take
I know celery is healthier
But all I want is cake
If I have a picnic in the park, after dark
Will you place me under arrest?

Sprouts

Not sure I believe that there's a creator
But is there something else that we just can't see?
Are we just food for worms or is there something greater?
Some nutrient, some essence or just energy?
Is life after death just more of the same?
Do we pass through the earth to a seed and sprout again?
At one point a grain that gets digested in turn
The essence breaking out and implanting itself into a sperm

You don't know how good a friend is until they're gone
You don't value the communication until there's none
A small innocuous sentence was slurred
Context sheds new light on words
When you said "See you on the other side"
Is this what you really meant?
Puzzled, perplexed, asking how and why
Dark moments blinding the mind's eye
Answerphone message repeating all night
What's the solution?
What's appropriate?
What's right?
"See you on the other side"
That was the last thing that we said
