Working in a city pub
didn't have a lot of money
scraping by on three jobs

Danny was an alcoholic
Or so we used to think
Joey called himself a straight line walker
Never had a drop to drink

But he snorted up that cocaine
til his mind fell out his brain
We'd see them every lunch time
and after they'd finished they'd come and get ruined
and every single day they'd do the same again

Some people are more equal than others
That's become clear as day
Parallels drawn with economic collapse
but it happened in a different way

Dallying over lockdown
Lack of decisiveness
Can't put out a clear message
Shifting the blame on the public again
